Trattoria Friuli

79-A Maginhawa St., UP Village, Quezon City
Italian cuisine

I am a fan of this place. We discovered Friuli around 2007 and we keep coming back ever since. It has become our to-go place whenever we ran out of ideas of food to eat or whenever we'd crave for something Italian. The place also has become a source of comfort food for us. Ok, we do not really frequent the place on a weekly basis but we do try to eat there whenever we are in the area, especially now that I have started taking graduate studies.

Before Friuli, establishments (where Friuli is) would change every now and then, lasting only a year. It is not surprising to still see Friuli in Maginhawa because of the good and cheap food they offer.

Since there is only BF and I, we don't really get to order a lot whenever we go there. It is just usually a pasta and a pizza combination. BF likes angel hair pasta puttanesca so we almost always end up having that every time we go there. I like their spicy-tuna carbonara. It has a kick in its creaminess. They also have anti-pasto like the Ravioli. The raviolis were biiig. It was like mini calzone. Their mozarella bites are also very good.

For the pizza, I really like their Buono Verde and the Tres Formaggio. Their seafood pizza is comparable to the anchovies pizza of Aveneto.

I'm back

... after an extremely long hiatus.

I don't know why I stopped writing.. But I feel like writing again.

And so much happened since my last blog post.

1. I finished my master's degree, three years after starting it.

2. Gained lifelong friends. One evening, while having lunch with my grad school friends, Tatay Gonz asked me what I think I gained from grad school. I answered back, "I gained friends." Then he rephrased it, "No, I mean, professionally.". And I answered, "I gained professional friends."

3. Then-BF is now a lawyer. After four years of law school and roughly six months of bar exams preparation, he is now a lawyer! He joked that his official title is AtEng. Get it?

4. Got engaged and got married! Yehey.

5. Did some local and international travels, both work and leisure.

And this means, I have so much backlog.

So what bit me to start writing again? Hmm... to vent out my kitchen bloopers! Seriously, I made so many already that it's such a pity not to share.

MTM - 1st year, 2nd sem

Yay! I'm almost 1/3 done with my Masters. Why, almost 1/3? Because I still have to wait a week or two before they release the grades. I don't think I did bad this semester.

For this particular semester, I enrolled in TM 241 (Technology Acquisition and Assimilation) and TM 205 (Financial Analysis for Technology Managers).  I thought of not taking a Saturday class because I missed having a regular weekend. The only downside was that I have to be at the office early, twice a week. And the bigger downside was I committed myself to two consecutive night classes! I think my school load would have been better if I noticed right away the class schedule I enlisted in.

TM 241 was handled by Dr. Posadas and provided a more in-depth knowledge on a section discussed in TM 201. The class was pretty much the same with TM 201, except that instead of submitting a single paper, we were required to do a presentation and two major papers. Extracting the necessary data for the presentation was a bit difficult because we do not have the capacity to interview the company we chose.

TM 205, was more math-y. I'd like to think of this subject as the "panghatak ng grade" kind of subject. The midterm was easy (I got a really good score. hehe). We hardly had classes so you have to really study by yourself. The topics were easy, in my opinion. At least, the topics covered for the midterms. It is like a repetition of CE22. After midterms, I think we had just one class meeting to discuss CAPM and that's pretty much it. I'm not really sure if I learned anything new with the subject. It was really just how the class was handled by the professor. He was really busy and tired. The course was a bit frustrating because the speaker assigned to our group did not come. And we only had a week to prepare because we really had no idea on how to proceed with the presentation/paper requirement. He did offer to have another week to work on the presentation but we just wanted the subject to be done and be over with.

Here's to the remaining 2/3 of my graduate school! Cheers!
